Soft starter is an electronic motor controller which enables optimized start and stop of asynchronous motors with three-phase current.

With a soft starter, the starting of the motor is adjustable and requires relatively less current. This means that the incoming
starting current and the starting torque generated in the motor are adjusted during starting due to the electronic soft starter and motor voltage controller.

This is also applied during motor stop. In this way, the torque generated in the motor can be reduced slowly and hence the application can be stopped smoothly.
